Baby

We got our baby today.  We have had him for about five hours.  He is very happy and loves to smile at everyone.  He really likes to chew on toys and appears to be close to teething.  We are so excited to finally have him for good.

Alaba

We got back from Alaba today and it was a great trip.  I was glad to be able to see the Ethiopian countryside.  We went out on Lake Awassa and saw hippos!  We also saw an alligator, an iguana, and some bald eagles.  Then we went to a coffee farm and saw lemurs.  Ethiopia is more beautiful than I could have imagined.  The land is beautiful and the people are beautiful.  There is indescribable poverty though, especially in the rural areas, and it is sad to witness.

We met our baby today!!!

Today we got to go to the orphanage to see our baby.  We don't get to take him with us until Tuesday, but we were able to go and hold him and play with him for about an hour.  He seems to be a very happy baby and smiles really big every time we stand him up.  He likes to see what is going on around him.  He fell asleep while I was holding him and it was so sweet. 

We made it!

We made it to Ethiopia!  It was a very long flight, but we survived. 

Travel

We are leaving on June 18th and coming home on June 29th. We got some good news yesterday. Our baby now weighs 13 lbs. He gained 3 lbs in 6 weeks!
